My thoughts on new habits

The idea of forming a new habit is undeniably exciting, as we are often eager to break away from our daily routines and embrace something different.

New habits can be incredibly enjoyable; we begin them with all our willpower fully charged. However, as time passes—one month, two months—the initial enthusiasm often wanes.

It's crucial to acknowledge the depletion of willpower along the way, which is rarely discussed. While I'm still figuring out how to recharge it, I recognize that discipline and consistency are essential for maintaining long-term habits.

Some things can seem really easy until you have to do them consistently.

  • Exercising: It sounds simple—just put on your shoes and go for a run. But doing it every day? Suddenly, your couch becomes a very convincing argument.

  • Cooking: Whipping up a meal looks effortless on cooking shows. But when you try to replicate it every day, you realize "season to taste" is just code for "panic and add salt."

  • Waking up early: The first morning you set your alarm for 5 AM feels like a triumph. By day three, that alarm is the enemy, and the snooze button is your best friend.

  • Keeping a journal: The first entry is full of inspiration and dreams. By week two, it’s just a collection of grocery lists and "I should really do this more."

Consistency can turn the simplest tasks into a comedic saga and we have memes from those losers lol! idk just my thoughts
